Physical Education, School Sport & Physical Activity (PESSPA) at Holy Family
At Holy Family, we encourage all children to be as active as possible, both in and outside of school. Our aim is to inspire our pupils to find a life-long love of physical activity by ensuring they have access to a high quality curriculum and extra-curricular offer, are able to try a range of activities, enjoy inspirational visits and understand why it is so important to be active.
We know that active children are happier, healthier and able to learn better - which is why we strive to ensure all our Key Stage 1 & Key Stage 2 children are able to meet the Chief Medical Officer's recommended minimum target of 60 minutes of moderate-vigorous physical activity each day (30 minutes in school, 30 minutes outside of school) through a combination of PE, sport, extra-curricular clubs, active learning, active playtimes, active travel and movement breaks.
For children in our Early Years Foundation Stage, who need to be active for at least 3 hours each day to meet the recommendations, we also include lots of opportunities for active play; our children love riding bikes and scooters on the dedicated track in their outdoor area and playing on the obstacle course.
