History

Intent:

At Holy Family, we aim to deliver a history curriculum that excites and ignites each child’s curiosity, no matter their ability or needs. History can be found everywhere, even on our own doorstep in Armley. This means we will take advantage of local, national and world wide events and places, from the past to understand how they have influenced the present; including changes in cultures and local communities.

Through stimulating, challenging and thrilling experiences and activities, children will be able to picture themselves as well as many other significant events and people in a chronological timeline. Children will have chance to ask and answer questions, build a rich vocabulary, think critically and use a range of sources for their own research. This can influence themselves as individuals alongside building on their knowledge, skills and understanding.

Assessment of History will enable leaders to understand the effectiveness of our planned progression for each group, allowing us to review Curriculum delivery.
