Physical Activity
We are currently involved in a pilot study - 'Creating Active Schools' - with the Yorkshire Sport Foundation. As part of this, we are looking to further develop the many opportunities children have to be physically active at school, in order to help ensure that all our children meet the activity guidelines and go on to live healthy, happy lives.
We are looking at all parts of the school day and striving to ensure that no opportunity to be physically active is missed! Children at Holy Family will be encouraged to be physically active through:
- Active playtimes and lunchtimes
- Active learning (across the curriculum)
- Active travel (such as walking, cycling or scooting to/from school, as well as where possible on local visits e.g. walking to swimming at Armley Leisure Centre and Mass at Church)
- Attending one of the many extra-curricular clubs available to them
- Opportunities to take part in sporting competitions and events
- High quality, engaging PE lessons
- Attending clubs in the local community
